Fiery new THE DARK KNIGHT RISES poster…disappoints

Posted by Max Lalanne on May 21, 2012

Here’s the newest poster [via] for The Dark Knight Rises, and honestly I’m feeling a little bit disappointed. Warner Bros. apparently took the bat-shaped-implosion teaser one-sheet that was released for a while now, filled in some fiery flames, and Photoshopped a generic photo of a shadowy Batman on the foreground.

Sure, it’s explosive and eye-catching and whatnot. But check it out yourself below.

You see? Meh. Don’t get me wrong, The Dark Knight Rises is probably my most-anticipated movie of the year – and that’s exactly why I’m geekily unhappy here.

Update: The whole blogosphere seems to be divided on this one, so I thought I’d elaborate a little more. This poster doesn’t look like it belongs to The Dark Knight Rises, it looks like it was inspired by all the Photoshopped action going on in the Avengers posters. I look at it and think that some Warner Bros. really wanted a more “exciting” one-sheet to supposedly draw more fanboys in – but they’re already in, hook, line, and sinker.

I look at this and think Christopher Nolan’s singular vision got overpowered by nervous execs who had second thoughts after watching a certain superhero film and decided to add ooomph to their previous almost black-and-white artwork. They didn’t need to.

What do you guys think?
