This ‘Gangster Squad’ poster ain’t half bad, but…

…You know what I really want to see? Throwback, old-fashioned poster artwork for “Gangster Squad,” like they used to do them back in Hollywood in the late ’20s all the way to the ’40s and the ’50s. Something more like this artwork for 1931’s “City Streets,” or these posters for 1936’s “Petrified Forest” and 1939’s “The Roaring Twenties” below. Why? It’s the perfect opportunity with the perfect movie for it. Enough with the teasing with the quasi-retro fonts and the sultry framing with Gosling and Stone, let’s have the real thing.
